To God be the Glory

What a beautiful Easter it was.
It never ceases to amaze me that in Georgia, we can quickly go from a winter wonderland (albeit a rare occurrence) to a full-on summer heat wave. The temps topped out somewhere around 85-88 degrees, with a certain stickiness in the air that only Georgians know. It's how we know Summer is here. Only... it's April. And it was only a month ago that we found ourselves playing in 5-6 inches of snow. In fact, we built a snowman about 5 feet away from the spot where we're standing in the picture to the right.
But oh, how beautiful of a day it was. Not only was the sun shining, the Cherry Trees in full bloom, the day lillies and Easter lillies bursting out of the ground, and so many other signs of life in the air, but we had the joy, nay, the privilege and the blessing of celebrating this Easter with our family... our complete, and healthy little family. It hit me that this could have very easily not been the case this year.
I found myself smiling throughout the day. Everytime I looked at Amanda, at Lindsay Leigh, at our boys, at everyone who gathered at "Grandma & Grandpa's" (Amanda's parents) for the annual Easter lunch, I was reminded of just how wonderful and lucky we were that God loves us so much. Not only are we celebrating the Resurrection of our Lord Christ during this Easter season, but I am selfishly and somewhat inwardly celebrating that God has been so good to me over the last few years.
Exactly one week before Drew (our oldest) was born, my father had an emergency quadruple bypass surgery following a heart attack. He's still here and was even able to take the day off of his normal Sunday job to join us for worship Easter morning and lunch that afternoon. And of course, on March 12th, Lindsay Leigh shocked us with her early morning arrival; an arrival that was full of drama and could have very easily been a heartbreaking arrival. But God is good indeed, and he protects us, even the worst and most undeserving of us all. God is good. His grace is sufficient. So this Easter season, I celebrate. And as I celebrate, I hope you will join me as I say "to God be the glory! Great things he hath done."
Happy Easter,
Dan
